We keep getting a lot of calls about the Victory Lane development planned for Cobbtown, GA. I had originally deleted the article off of the website that we ran in the paper (just routine weekly update) but have decided to include it here again for everyone who still wants to read it. We plan on running updated articles on a regular basis so keep checking the Journal for the latest news. Also, here is a link for the Victory Lane business website. Feel free to post your comments on the Victory Lane plans or any news you hear on it. We've heard that Alan Jackson and John Travolta are moving in, but who knows!

I think the Victory Lane project sounds like a great thing for the Tattnall County community. But, I wonder if I am the only one that thinks it's really far-fetched. Perhaps someone should check out these developers before we welcome them with open arms. Have they ever done a project this size before? Who are the people that have supposedly bought lots? It would be interesting to find out why they chose north Tattnall as a place to spend so much money. After all, there isn't anything out there yet and most reasonable people wouldn't plunk down several hundred thousand dollars on just a promise that it will all be built. I'd love it if the project would come. It could be Tattnall's savior, but let's not all just buy into it without really checking these people out.
I can't believe that John Travolta, Warren Beatty and "others" would spend millions to build a house in the sticks of south Georgia. If you're not from here you really can't appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the area. Has anyone told these people about the "gnats!"
There is no better site. When you travel this country you really appreciate the beauty of this land.
I'm with the others> We're too far from ANYWHERE for this to become a reality. If I had the money to buy & build at Victory Lane I wouldn't want to be stuck in South Georgia. Where do the developers think these peopke will come from?
Probably won't buy there, don't know about Travolta, Beatty and others but when we moved here from the Atlanta area, my wife's first statement was " I love this place"".. Could be the people you know, and she said NOTHING below I-20 interests her before..
I love the small town, country living. But,I just don't see this becoming a reality. Not everyone is cut out to be "country".
And the sad thing is, not one of us will ever be allowed inside the gates, because we won't know the "folks" that live there. To bad,we can't enjoy the area!!
LIKE NASCAR !! MUDBOGGIN HAS COME AROUND.. MOVE OVER GUYS !!
The rich and famous have purchased property all around our area so why not in Tattnall County. It appears that the Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill is a successful venture. Any development that will bring tax dollars to our county is welcomed.
There's going to be a big story on the development in the Savannah Morning News Sunday. Check it out.
How do you create a new comment on here? Like, if I wanted to talk about something other than Victory Lane???
I live less than 2 miles from "Victory Lane" and I rode the area when it was Beaver Creek Plantation. I can honestly say that there are very few places as beautiful as that piece of land. I believe people with money would be perfectly happy to call this town and county home. The people of Tattnall County made me feel at home when I came here 15 years ago and I am sure they would do the same for anyone. In my opinion we will never see any of these people who are buying there but to know that they thought our county was beautiful enough to call home is enough for me to call them neighbor.
Before it is all over with we may wish there was a hog farm out there. At least the average Tattnall Countian could relate to that. To the residents of a multi-million dollar gated community the residents of Cobbtown will be known as "townies" soon enough. Tax benefits? If dozens of million dollar homes are built within a few miles of my modest home what is it going to do to it's market value? Aren't my taxes based on that? Check out the quaint little ski resorts in Colorado for more info.
Let me think - South Ga., Flat land and Ponds - That doesn't sound like luxury to me - When summer hits and 100 degree weather with 100% humidity and the gnats start up, it will fill more like HELL !! Of course, if your in to scientology then you don't believe in HELL !! Just kidding - If you build it, they will come!! They better bring plenty of deodorant and water!! It is so funny to me - I've played golf in this region and didn't think I could drink enough water - Hope they like to sweat!! It will be good for those actors that have to get tough for a role ar thin down to play a different part - This ain't Arizona - If you sweat in Arizona it actually cools you down, if you sweat in South Ga. you get dehydrated and sunburnt....Quickly!! Later
